Giving Back
Brighter Homes, Brighter Communities
As a local, student-run organization, Ottawa Student Windows has benefitted over the past three years from the assistance of a small business start-up fund, the advice of local business owners, as well as the overwhelming support of local homeowners. While we have committed ourselves to using biodegradable product and paying our students a fair salary, our business is now large enough that we can look towards partnering with a local non-profit to give back to the local community.
When many people get together, small actions can add up to make big differences in the community. With the support of individuals at all end of our value chain we are excited to introduce our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa to extend new opportunities to students graduating high school this spring.
Our Commitment
In the summer of 2016 without raising our prices, Ottawa Student Windows contributed a $3,000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa in order to provide a three-year, $1000 annual scholarship to a local student seeking a post-graduate education.
$5 of our own profits from each house went towards this fund, with all proceeds over $3,000 donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa to continue to improve facilities and offer the same great programs to local youth.
More About the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa
Boys and Girls Club provides a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.
The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) has served the Ottawa community since 1923, reaching out to 4,500 children and youth each year through after-school, weekend and summer programs that build self-esteem and help to develop stronger social skills.
After-school and weekend hours are a critical time for youth. That time can represent either an opportunity to learn and grow through quality after-school programs, or be a time of risk to youth's health and safety.
Boys and Girls Club after-school programs keep kids safe, improve academic achievement and help relieve the stresses on today's working families.
